Dell is set to expand upon its Art Home series of Studio laptops with three new special edition designs for (PRODUCT) RED. That’s right: now you can have an arty Dell and do some good at the same time, with the choice of three different artists: Joseph Amedokpo, Siobhan Gunning and Bruce Mau. The custom designs will be available on Dell’s Studio 15 and 17 models for $649 and $799 respectively, and a $20 contribution will be made to The Global Fund for AIDS programs in Africa for every one sold. Dell claims that the art is “permanently infused” on the casing and absolutely durable, so, just like when deciding on a tattoo, be sure you’re really committed before the purchase. And if you’re too cool for these designs, well, maybe your slightly hip, gaudy great aunt will be interested. Regardless, they’re available now on the web.

The lucky, lucky chaps over at Laptop got an early sit-down with the glossy 14.1-inch Samsung X460 we’ve been hearing so much about. We’ll have to be patient and wait for the full review, but some early impressions are that the outer shell smudges up quite easily (as evidenced by the above photo), it’s got a pretty fast boot-time and that the display is very, very bright. Check out the deeply riveting video of the handling after the break.

After launching this summer, we’re heard way more about netbooks than Lenovo’s shiny IdeaPad U330. For those who’ve refused to forget about it, the aforesaid rig has been reviewed by the kind souls over at Laptop Mag, and impressions were fairly positive overall. The biggest boon here’s likely the price — we mean, $1,199 for a 13-inch lappie of this stature isn’t half bad. As with most of the other IdeaPads, the design was applauded, the mix of features and performance was satisfactory and the size (4.4-pounds) was just right. Critics did slam the mushy touch buttons and the below-average battery life, but even so, the U330 was deemed a “a compelling thin-and-light notebook that offered plenty of style and strong performance” for the price.

To thwart credit card thieves, users of VISA’s latest offering “can enter their PIN into the card itself and have a security code generated on the fly.” Video after the break.

The method can stop thieves in two ways. Those who copy down your credit card information will find that your account number and expiration date is not enough to place an order. And those who actually steal your physical card will find that they still don’t know your pin.

Toshiba has just released a new commercial, called “Timesculpture”, which basically “takes The Matrix’s Bullet Time film technique one bizarrely cool step forward by animating within the freeze-frame.” Video after the break.

It was filmed with 200 Gigashot camcorders arranged on a special rig, recording a mahoosive 20 terabytes of data from which the ad was composed.

This could quite possibly be the strangest bicycle we’ve ever come across, in which “the upper wheel is generating all the momentum - transferring the energy like a set of gears.”

At any rate, you would have time to think about how stupid this all is as you hit a pebble in the road and fall.

Held at the Universal Citywalk GameStop, the Gears of War 2 party was quite the success. It was hosted by Major Nelson and “throughout the night he pulled people out of the crowd and up onto the stage to play multiplayer Gears 2 with the kiosks set up inside the store.” Video after the break. Click here for first picture in gallery.

The first round of players included all of the voice talent from the game, everyone from Anya to Baird was there, and of course Marcus Fenix and the Cole Train as well. John DiMaggio, who provides the voice of Marcus as well as Bender, was late to the party.
