After toying with our heartstrings for like, ever, Dell finally gathered up the courage to formally introduce its 12-inch netbook late last month. After arriving at the testing facilities of Laptop Mag, critics quickly found a lot to love about the relatively expansive display, “excellent” battery life and spacious keyboard. In all fairness, there really wasn’t anything to complain about on the surface; the first kvetching we heard was soon after bootup — er, a fair while after bootup, we should state. The biggest knock on Dell’s Mini 12 was its sluggish performance under Vista, not to mention the lethargic hard drive shoved in there. In sum, critics frankly pointed out that the “Mini 12 doesn’t have the right hardware to handle this OS,” and suggested holding off for one with WinXP / Ubuntu if you were dead set on the design.
Dell Inspiron Mini 12 reviewed: more massive, not necessarily superior originally appeared on Engadget on Sat, 08 Nov 2008 15:15:00 EST. Please see our terms for use of feeds.

At $6232 on Amazon, this Nuclear Energy book for the Amazon Kindle is the most costly ever. It’s basically “a three-volume compendium of technical essays on energy.” Product page.
It is 602 pages long, but since the Kindle edition of James Joyce’s Ulysses, clocking in at 816 pages, costs less than a buck, that’s not much of an excuse.

At $14777 on eBay, this strange motorcycle vehicle is “powered by a Kawasaki ZRX, as in a whole Kawasaki ZRX motorcycle and not just its engine. The entire Kawasaki motorcycle on which the Sportcycle is based has been left totally intact, minus the front wheel and fork.” Auction page. Video after the break. Those have been replaced by the driver’s seat and a full front axle sporting two wheels. It’s totally brilliant in a crazy, maniacal kinda way.

The above scene is the result of an oil-carrying train colliding with a locomotive transporting 106 Porsches. Damage is estimated at “around 1 million Euros, or about $1.28 million in US Federal Reserve issued fiat money.” Click here first picture in gallery.
Here’s an pricey fender bender. It seems a train carrying oil rear-ended a train carrying 106 Porsches in the sleepy town of Dillenburg, Germany.
