During the hurricane that was CES, ASUS managed to get in a word just long enough to make mention of a forthcoming G70 laptop. Now that the storm has passed, it’s dishing out a full list of details to get gamers’ mouths watering. The 17-inch behemoth features quite the vivid motif, and crammed within you’ll find your choice of an Intel Core 2 Duo / Core 2 Extreme processor, 802.11a/b/g/n WiFi, twin 512MB NVIDIA GeForce 8700M GTs, up to 4GB of DDR2 RAM and room for dual hard drives, too. Furthermore, you can feast your retinas on a WUXGA / WXGA+ panel and tickle your fancy with an optional Blu-ray writer, 2-megapixel camera, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, gigabit Ethernet and 8-cell battery. Sure, this beast weighs almost 10.6 pounds and packs more LED lighting than an LCD Soundsystem concert, but hey, you’ve got to flaunt it if you’ve got it, right?

Surely you remember that G600 that MSI showcased at CeBIT, right? We know you’re sitting in stunned silence just thinking back, so we’ll move forward anyway. The crew over at TweakTown managed to get ahold of the GX600X TurboBook, and rather than just frolicking in fields of flowers with it, they put this puppy to the test. Unlike the vast majority of MSI lappies, this particular one manages to stand out somewhat, with a relatively loud design and a fairly potent set of components to boot. Reviewers found it to be a “peak performer” with “excellent overclocking abilities,” and while the logos might catch a few eyes, these critics felt that those very decals may deter folks from buying an otherwise solid machine. Nevertheless, head on down to the full review — you may find yourself surprisingly attracted to an MSI. Envision that.

First things first: just in case that headline didn’t really sink in, this is an 18.4-inch laptop. In other words, those of you with even the slightest of back problems should probably just pass this one right on by. If you’re still with us, however, you’ll likely be totally engrossed by Laptop Mag’s review of the Acer Aspire 8920G. The larger of the two second-gen Gemstones was said to feature a “gorgeous” Full HD display, impressive audio output, a respectable webcam and plenty of power under the hood. They also found the unique CineDash Media Console to be quite effective, save for accidentally activating the multimedia hub on occasion. Overall, critics deemed the lappie a “stellar” machine, but we’d certainly recommend browsing through the review just to make sure you’re really interested in picking up a slab this gigantic.

Conan O’Brien just received Grand Theft Auto IV yesterday, but it happens to be a special “toned down” version with less violence. Continue reading for the video.

In the past, Grand Theft Auto’s been severely criticized for being too violent. The new version, it’s been toned down a lot, I think in reaction to the criticism. I’m not sure it’s better. Take a look.

The guys over at iPhon.fr apparently managed to get their hands on an early iPhone 3G test unit, and from these pictures, it definitely looks slightly thinner than its predecessor. Click here for one more picture.

We have a hard time imagining that anything like this can come out of Monssieur Jonathan Ive’s brain. Or better said, we have a hard time envisioning us buying what looks like a soulless piece of machinery, even while the true soul of the iPhone is its operating system

Electronic House recently selected 2008’s Home of the Year winners, which includes the “Ultimate Green Home” (above), “Self-Sufficient Home”, and the “Loaded Home”. Click here for photos of those homes in that order (four each).

Yep, for the first time ever, an “energy-efficient, sustainable” home snagged the highly-coveted gold, but make no mistake, this domicile is packed to the gills with electronic goodness (some of which actually helps keep energy waste down)

Do you know any gamer who’s already finished Grand Theft Auto IV? Then it’s time to start looking for amusing signs, such as this Apple / iPhone parody. Click here for one more picture.

And if that’s not enough, the site advertises a new banana-shaped iFruit phone. Its sales points made me laugh out loud: No buttons, no reception, no storage capacity, all Ego!

What sets Robometer apart from other stress relief gadgets is that it promises “to help you feel happy by prompting you when you stray too far into tediousness.” Video after the break. Click here for first picture in gallery.

To do that, the rig makes use of a GSR lead to detect your galvanic skin response, along with accelerometers that detect repetitive movement, and a voice sensor that promises to detect repetitive phrases
