It’s a good day for Leopard users, the latest update (10.5.2) is finally being released, and weighs in at a mighty 180MB+ (some are reporting theirs is over 300MB). As expected this update has a TON of fixes, including stuff in Active Directory, AirPort, BTMM, Dashboard, Dock, Finder, iCal, iChat, iSync, Mail, Preview, Safari, Time Machine, and more — the choicer of we’ll be publishing after the break. Go on, indulge yourself.

P.S. -Oh, purists, you’ll definitely love the fact that you can now (finally) turn off menu bar transparency. Score one for the team. (It’s in the desktop and screen saver system pref pane.)

That right children, it’s everyone’s wildest dream come to fruition: Vista SP1 is now officially available for your beta testing pleasure. According to a report from Geekzone in New Zealand, the update is now making its way into the hands of beta testers, with a broad rollout planned sometime in March. Apparently, those desperate to get with the newness will have to use a standalone installer as opposed to the updater, and there are some minor issues with driver compatibility — but we’re pretty sure that won’t stop you from going to town on this baby. Get it now if you’re a beta tester… or have a BitTorrent client.

Oops. One of Microsoft’s big goals in releasing Vista SP1 is the closure of a pair of known Vista activation exploits. While the OEM BIOS hack and grace timer hacks are now indeed useless in the face of SP1, a third remains. Adrian Kingsley-Hughes over at ZDNet tracked down a hack that required “a few seconds in the command prompt” to trick Vista SP1 into thinking it was genuine. Now that SP1 is riding the torrents, we can’t say we’re surprised.

We not sure when Dell’s XPS M1330 learned the new Wireless USB trick, nevertheless, it’s sporting that option as of this morning. The $150 add-on integrates a Wireless USB module into Dell’s slick 13.3-inch laptop while netting you a short-range Belkin 4-port USB hub for all your peripherals. See, it’s not just phone news today.

Nokia has just unveiled the N78, a sleek candybar-style phone that features a “3.2 megapixel autofocus camera paired with integrated AGPS”, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. Click here for first picture in gallery.

The revamped Nseries lineup is coming fast and furious since the launch of the N81 and N82 late last year, and the latest candybar to get the updated industrial design is the N78, a midrange handset (by Nseries standards, anyway) with an integrated FM transmitter setting it apart from the crowd

The “Magic Lens” is Adobe’s first foray into the hardware market, and it’s definitely no slouch. Comprised of 19 smaller lenses, it shoots the object from multiple angles simultaneously, enabling you to control the image’s depth of field using custom software. Video after the break.
